Microsoft Unveils Xbox Project Scarlett with 8K Resolution And Ray-Tracing

At E3 2019, Microsoft announced Project Scarlett, releasing more details about the next-generation Xbox gaming console. The new console is expected to arrive in late 2020.



The new Xbox will be equipped with a custom-designed processor from AMD and GDDR6 memory, which is based on the Zen 2 and Navi/RDNA micro-architecture. According to Microsoft, it is four times more powerful than the existing Xbox One X.

The Xbox Project Scarlett will be able to support 8K resolution, variable refresh rate (VRR) and hardware-accelerated real time ray-tracing. Games will be running in framerates up to 120 FPS. To further improve performance, the new Xbox will be having internal SSD storage for the first time, which can also be used as virtual RAM if needed.

The next-gen Xbox will be released in 2020 during the holiday season, along with the new Halo Infinite game.
