Ubiquiti has released a new Wi-Fi router, named the AmpliFi Alien. It is the first Wi-Fi 6-capable device from the company, and costs $379 USD (MSRP).

The AmpliFi Alien has a cylindrical-shaped enclosure, with all the radio antennas integrated. There is a 4.7-inch touchscreen at the front, that shows current network status and allows users to adjust the settings quickly. The single WAN port and four additional LAN ports are all Gigabit-capable.

The tri-band router is equipped with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) radio, a 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) radio and a 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6 radio. They are combined to provide a total theoretical bandwidth of about 7.685 Gbps and 16 spatial streams. According to Ubiquiti, the AmpliFi Alien provides up to 2 times more coverage than the existing AmpliFi HD. You can also add more AmpliFi Alien to the area to create a mesh network for better reception and capacity.

The AmpliFi Alien is priced at $379 USD (MSRP) at launch and can be purchased on AmpliFi.com. For comparison, the NETGEAR Nighthawk AX12 router costs $499.99 (MSRP) and $379.99 USD (on sale).
