Samsung has unveiled the new iPad Pro-like tablet, called the Galaxy Tab S5e. It will be powered by the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS. It will be marketed at a mid-range tablet, which is priced at $399 USD (MSRP).

The Galaxy Tab S5e is equipped with a 10.5-inch 16:10 Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. The side bezels around the display are shrunk to create a impressive 81.8% screen-to-body ratio. Combined with the ultra-thin unibody aluminium outer casing, the S5e is the lightest and thinnest tablet from Samsung, with only 5.5 mm thick and weighing 400 grams.

The Galaxy Tab S5e is packed with an octa-core Snapdragon 670 SoC and either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM. Depending on what memory size you choose, the internal storage capacity can be 64 GB or 128 GB, but you can expand it up to 512 GB via microSD card. The integrated 7040 mAh battery is claimed to provide up to 14.5 hours of video playback time.

Similar to Apple’s iPad Pro, the S5e also has a quad-speaker audio system, tuned by AKG. The speakers support Dolby Atmos Surround Sound, which should be great for multi-media entertainment, such as listening music or watching movies.

For a base price of only $399 USD (MSRP), the Galaxy Tab S5e seems to be a great contender for the iPads. It will be available in the 2nd Quarter of 2019.
